International property developer Keppel Land contributes to the community with scholarships

"I find studying in Singapore most challenging and exciting," shared 16-year-old Ayush Khaitan, the first scholar from Kolkata, India, sponsored by Keppel Land International Limited.

Keppel Land, one of Asia's premier property developers based in Singapore, is currently developing the residential development, Elita Garden Vista through its joint venture company Keppel Magus Development (KMD) Pvt Ltd. Additionally, Keppel Land also has presence in Bangalore with another two residential developments.

Keppel Land believes in growing together with the community it operates in. It set up the Keppel-SJI International Scholarship programme to develop talented youths from Kolkata by offering them scholarships to study International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in Singapore.

Mr. Lionel Tay, Keppel Land's City Head for Kolkata, said, "This scholarship is one of the initiatives we hope to contribute to the community. We believe that a good education provides a solid foundation on which we can build and groom talent. Our scholars are given the opportunity to experience studying and living in Singapore as well as attain the renowned IB Diploma."

Over two years (2008 and 2009), Keppel Land sponsors Ayush's tuition fees at SJI International, including residential costs, medical care, pocket money, expeditions in Southeast and two flights home annually.

Mr. Andrew Bennet, Principal, SJI International is proud of Ayush's achievements and commented; "Ayush has done very well and is an integral part of the SJII community. His academic standards are high and he has participated fully in the programme."

Through the scholarship, Ayush also enjoys the exposure and network with an international group of bright students.

New Keppel Scholar

Keppel Land has selected a second student to be sponsored under the Keppel-SJI International Scholarship. Through tests and stringent interviews, Sheshadri Bhattacharyya stood out among 34 candidates to win the scholarship.

Keppel Land is confident that Sheshadri will do both Kolkata and Keppel Land proud with his studies in Singapore.
